Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor nameplate at the input voltage, confirming whether it’s 1-phase or 3-phase. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA. The control power used to close the contactor must also be determined, alongside selecting an overload with a current range that accommodates the motor's FLA. Optional configurations include direct-online starters if the line power is also the control power, or separate control voltage configurations if they differ. Remote start terminals can be added for activation from external switches, and if different voltages for line and control power are used, it is classified as separate control voltage plus remote start terminals. The features of the starter include a 16A 3-phase direct online start/stop capability, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and a 13-16A overload relay, all housed in a durable NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
