Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A, which include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To ensure the proper selection of a starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be chosen, along with selecting the overload by choosing a current range that contains the FLA determined earlier. The options for the starter can include a direct-online starter if the line power is utilized for control, separate control voltage if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, or remote start terminals for activation from an external switch, which assumes the line voltage and control voltage are the same. Additional features include a 16A 3-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a reset button, a coil voltage range of 250-500V AC/DC, and an overload relay rated for 7.6-10A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
