Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage you will supply, confirming whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be selected, as well as the overload by selecting a current range that contains the FLA of the motor. Optional criteria for selection include the incoming power, which can be a "direct-online starter" if line power is used as the control power, or a "separate control voltage" if the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For remote activation from an external switch, terminals are added to accept the control power input, known as "remote start terminals." If different voltages for line and control power are needed along with remote start terminals, this is termed "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include 16A 3 phase, remote start terminals, a reset button, a 250-500V AC/DC coil, and a 13-16A overload protection within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
