Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60 HP or 80 A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage being supplied, ensuring to confirm whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The selected starter must be rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. Additional specifications include a control power selection for closing the contactor, and an overload with a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. The options available for selection include a direct-online starter if the line power serves as the control power, separate control voltage if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, or configurations with remote start terminals for external switch activation, specifically for cases where line and control voltages are not the same.
