Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, you must first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, ensuring the correct identification of single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The selection process also involves choosing the control power for closing the contactor and selecting an overload that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Additional optional criteria include the type of incoming power, where a "direct-online starter" uses the line power for control, while "separate control voltage" indicates a different control voltage from the line voltage. For starters needing activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, which assume matching line and control voltages or can be configured for separate voltages with remote start terminals included.
