Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for use with motors up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the suitable starter for your application, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) listed on the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage you will supply, confirming whether the system operates on 1 phase or 3 phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) above the FLA of your motor. Next, select the control power for closing the contactor and choose the overload by identifying a current range that encompasses the FLA from the previous step. Additionally, you can consider optional criteria such as incoming power configuration; for instance, if the line power will serve as the control power, it is categorized as a "Direct-On-Line Starter," whereas a different control voltage is termed "Separate Control Voltage." For activations via an external switch, terminals can be added for that input, referred to as "Remote Start Terminals." There is also an option for "Separate Control Voltage + Remote Start Terminals" if utilizing different voltages. Key features of the motor starter include a 16A rating for 1 phase direct online with a reset button, a coil specification of 100-250V AC/DC, and an overload rating of 5.7-7.6A, all housed in a durable NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
