Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. When selecting the appropriate starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to confirm the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, and to determine whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor, and the control power used to close the contactor must be chosen accordingly. The overload should be selected based on a current range that encompasses the FLA from the earlier step. Optional criteria for selection include the incoming power configuration, such as direct-online starter configuration, separate control voltage options, and the inclusion of remote start terminals if activation from an external switch is required. The starters feature 16A 1-phase remote start terminals with start/stop capabilities, support for a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated for 16-20A.
