Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for operation up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage and confirm if it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor and decide on the control power used to close the contactor. The overload must be selected based on a current range that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Options for selection include determining whether to use line power directly as control power (direct-online starter) or if a separate control voltage is necessary. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals can be added to accommodate the control power input. Key features of the starter include a 16A 1-phase separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, a start/stop function, and a 100-250V AC/DC coil, with overload protection rated at 16-20A.
