Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A, which include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) of the motor from its nameplate based on the input voltage supplied and confirm if it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the motor’s FLA. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that includes the motor's FLA. The selection can further be narrowed by considering the incoming power requirements, such as whether the line power will also serve as the control power (referred to as a "direct-online starter") or if there is a separate control voltage. Additional options include remote start terminals for external switch activation when the line and control voltages differ. Key features feature a 16A rating, single-phase operation, separate coil voltage, a reset button only, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay range of 7.6-10A housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
