Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of supporting motors up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, ensuring to identify whether the power is single-phase or three-phase. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. Next, select the control power for the contactor activation, and then choose the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power: a "direct-on-line starter" uses line power as control power, whereas "separate control voltage" is used when the control voltage differs from line voltage. For activation via an external switch, "remote start terminals" allow for control power input from that switch. If different voltages for line and control power are needed along with remote start terminals, this configuration is denoted as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include a 26A 1-phase separate control voltage for start/stop operations with a 24-60V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated for 13-16A housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
