Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, one should first examine the motor or equipment nameplate to confirm the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage, ensuring to identify if it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is recommended to choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to engage the contactor must also be specified, along with the overload, which should be selected from a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power, which can define the starter as a "direct-online starter" if the line power is used for control, or as "separate control voltage" if the control voltage differs from the line voltage. In cases where the starter requires activation from an external switch, terminals can be added for control power input, referred to as "remote start terminals." A model configuration features a 26A 1-phase separate control voltage with remote start terminals, reset button only, 24-60V AC/DC coil, and a 16-20A overload relay, all encapsulated in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
