Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A, which include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supply voltage. Ensure the motor is either single-phase or three-phase and choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power used to close the contactor must also be selected, followed by choosing an overload that encompasses the FLA of the motor. Additional optional criteria include determining if the line power will serve as the control power, in which case it is categorized as a direct-online starter, or if separate control voltage is required. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, assuming the line and control voltages are the same, or with separate control voltage when different voltages are used. Key features include a 38A 3-phase direct online operation with a reset button, a coil rating of 250-500V AC/DC, and an overload capacity of 24-29A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
