The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, ensuring to note if the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) above the FLA. The control power needed to close the contactor must be selected next, followed by the overload that matches the FLA range. Depending on the incoming power, options include a "direct-online starter" if the line power serves as control power, or "separate control voltage" if different voltages are used. For remote activation via an external switch, starters can include "remote start terminals," with configurations available for both same and different line and control voltages.
