Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters capable of handling up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To ensure the correct starter selection, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, and confirm if the power supply is 1 phase or 3 phase. It is important to select a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor must also be chosen. Overload selection should be based on a current range that encompasses the FLA determined previously. Additional criteria for starter selection include the incoming power configuration, which can be a direct-online starter, separate control voltage, or configurations with remote start terminals. The features of this particular unit include a rating of 38A, operation on 1 phase, a separate coil voltage with remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and a 16-20A overload relay.
