Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate and determine if the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter must be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The control power used to close the contactor should be chosen, alongside selecting the overload by picking a current range that contains the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power type, such as "Direct-On-Line Starter," "Separate Control Voltage," or incorporating "Remote Start Terminals" if activation from an external switch is required.
