Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for motors up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To ensure the correct starter selection for specific applications, it is essential to first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, while also confirming whether the power is 1 phase or 3 phase. The starter must be rated for a current higher than the FLA identified. Next, the user should select the control power for closing the contactor and choose an overload relay that encompasses the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include the type of incoming power, which may necessitate a "direct-online starter" if line power is used as control power, or a "separate control voltage" if line voltage differs from control voltage. Additional options include remote start terminals for activation from an external switch.
