Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with a capacity of up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter for your needs, refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to confirm the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage supplied, ensuring to note whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the motor's FLA, select the control power required to close the contactor, and choose the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA of the motor. The starter can be configured based on additional criteria such as incoming power—whether to use line power as control power, which designates a "direct-online starter," or if a separate control voltage is needed. Options also include "remote start terminals" for activation from an external switch, with considerations for different voltages for line and control power.
