Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter for your needs, first refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage. Confirm whether the motor requires 1-phase or 3-phase power and choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and choose the overload by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA. The selection can be further refined based on optional criteria such as incoming power type: a "direct-online starter" uses line power for control, while "separate control voltage" indicates that the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For activation from an external switch, terminals can be added for a "remote start terminal" configuration, which assumes that line and control voltages are the same. If different voltages are employed, this setup is classified as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the motor starters include a 52A 3-phase direct online start/stop capability, a 250-500V AC/DC coil, and an overload relay rated for 44-53A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
