Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To properly select a motor starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate based on the input voltage provided, ensuring to note whether it’s 1-phase or 3-phase power. The starter should be rated for current higher than the FLA. Next, determine the control power needed to engage the contactor, and select the overload relay by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. Optional criteria to consider include incoming power setup: if line power is also used for control, it is a "direct-online starter"; if different, it is a "separate control voltage." For activation from an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, with the assumption that line and control voltages are identical; if they differ, it is designated as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features of the starter include a 52A 1-phase separate coil voltage start/stop configuration, a coil voltage rating of 100-250V AC/DC, and an overload rating of 36-47A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
