Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters consist of a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring to note whether it is single-phase or three-phase power. The selected starter should be rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. The control power for closing the contactor must also be chosen, along with the overload protection by selecting a current range that encompasses the FLA. Optional criteria include the choice of incoming power, which can be a direct-online starter if line power is also used as control power, or a separate control voltage if the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For external activation, remote start terminals can be added, facilitating the use of a switch for control power input. Key features of these starters include a rating of 52A for three-phase applications, a separate control voltage with remote start terminals, a reset button, a 24-60V AC/DC coil, a 30-40A overload relay, and compliance with NEMA 4X specifications.
