Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor nameplate at the input voltage being supplied and confirm whether the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. The starter should be rated for current higher than the motor's FLA. Additionally, the control power for closing the contactor must be selected, followed by the overload, ensuring it falls within a current range that accommodates the motor's FLA. The selection process also involves determining the configuration of incoming power; if the line power serves as the control power, it is categorized as a "direct-online starter," whereas different line and control voltages necessitate a "separate control voltage" configuration. For activation via an external switch, remote start terminals can be added, and if separate voltages are employed, it’s referred to as "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." The key features of this specific model include a rating of 52A, a single-phase configuration, separate control voltage capability, a start/stop function, a coil voltage range of 24-60V AC/DC, a 30-40A overload, and a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
