Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, users should refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is crucial to choose a starter rated for a current (amps) higher than the FLA of the motor. The selection process continues by determining the control power used to close the contactor and selecting an overload relay based on a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. The optional criteria for selection include determining the type of incoming power, with options for "direct-online starter" when line power is used as control power, or "separate control voltage" when they differ. Remote start terminals can be added for activation from an external switch, assuming the line and control voltages are the same or specifying "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" when they are not. The key features of the kit include a 52A 3-phase separate coil voltage, remote start terminals, a reset button, and a coil rated for 250-500V AC/DC, along with an overload relay rated for 44-53A, all housed in a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
