Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for applications up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, ensuring to confirm whether the power supply is single-phase or three-phase. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA and select the control power type for the contactor operation. The overload is selected based on a current range that includes the FLA determined earlier. Additional criteria for selection include incoming power configuration: a direct-online starter when line power is also the control power, or a separate control voltage if they differ. For remote activation via an external switch, terminals are added for control power input, which is applicable when line and control voltages are the same, or with remote start terminals when different voltages are used. Key features of the motors starters include a 52A 3-phase direct online reset button, operating voltage range of 250-500V AC/DC for the coil, and a 30-40A overload rating, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
