Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for motors up to 60 HP or 80 A. Each assembled motor starter includes a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. For proper selection, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage from the motor or equipment nameplate, distinguishing whether the motor operates on 1-phase or 3-phase power. It is recommended to choose a starter rated for current higher than the FLA of the motor. Selection requires considering the control power used for the contactor, as well as selecting an appropriate overload current range that covers the motor's FLA. Additionally, the type of incoming power influences the selection: a direct-online starter uses line power as control power, while a separate control voltage requires a different line voltage. For applications needing activation from an external switch, options for remote start terminals are available, which assume the line and control voltages are the same unless specified as separate control voltage with remote start terminals.
