Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters rated up to 60HP or 80A. These assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage, and confirm whether you are using 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA of your motor, select the control power for closing the contactor, and choose the overload based on a current range that accommodates the FLA. Optional criteria include incoming power considerations: for direct-online starters, the line power is the control power; for separate control voltage, ensure that the control voltage differs from the line voltage. Additionally, remote start terminals can be added for activation from an external switch, with the assumption that line and control voltages match unless using separate control voltage with remote start terminals.
