Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor nameplate at the input voltage, ensuring to confirm whether the motor uses 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current higher than the motor's FLA. Control power options for closing the contactor should be determined, and the overload must be selected within a current range that encompasses the motor's FLA. Optional criteria for selection include incoming power, which can be classified as a "direct-online starter" if the line power is used as the control power, or as "separate control voltage" if they differ. The starters can also feature remote start terminals for activation from an external switch, with options for a common voltage or a different voltage for line and control power. The key features of the starter include a 65A rating, 3-phase configuration, remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a control coil voltage range of 250-500V AC/DC, and an overload relay rated for 36-47A.
