Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters with ratings up to 60HP or 80A. The assembled motor starters include a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the proper starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) on the motor or equipment nameplate at the supplied input voltage, ensuring that you identify whether the motor operates on single-phase or three-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) exceeding the FLA of the motor. Next, select the control power required to activate the contactor and the overload by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA determined earlier. The selection process also involves considering the incoming power; for instance, if the line power serves as the control power, this is labeled as a "direct-online starter." Alternatively, if the control voltage differs from the line voltage, it is known as "separate control voltage." For activation via an external switch, the inclusion of terminals for receiving the control power input is necessary, referred to as "remote start terminals." If both remote start terminals and differing line and control voltages are required, this is designated "separate control voltage + remote start terminals." Key features include an 80A capacity, 3-phase direct online start/stop capability, a 100-250V AC/DC coil, and an overload rating of 65-78A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
