Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters designed for use with motors up to 60 HP or 80 A. These assembled motor starters comprise a contactor, overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To properly select a starter, it is essential to refer to the motor or equipment nameplate to confirm the full load amperage (FLA) at the supplied input voltage, ensuring to identify whether the power supply is 1-phase or 3-phase. Choose a starter with a current rating higher than the motor's FLA, and select the control power required to close the contactor. The overload must be chosen based on a current range that includes the FLA identified. Additional selection criteria include incoming power configuration; if the line power is used as control power, it is known as a "direct-online starter," whereas a "separate control voltage" is utilized when the control voltage differs from the line voltage. For starters that require activation via an external switch, terminals can be added for control power input, referred to as "remote start terminals." The key features of this line include an 80 A rating, compatibility with 3-phase systems, separate control voltage with remote start terminals, start/stop functionality, a 24-60 V AC/DC coil, and an overload range of 57-68 A, all housed within a NEMA 4X polycarbonate enclosure.
