The assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To properly select a starter, it is essential to verify the full load amperage (FLA) at the input voltage supplied, confirming whether the power is single-phase or three-phase. The starter should be rated for a current higher than the FLA. Additionally, it is necessary to determine the control power used to close the contactor and select an overload relay by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA. The selection process involves considering several optional criteria, including incoming power configurations such as "direct-online starter" or "separate control voltage," and the need for remote start terminals for activation from an external switch.
