Springer Controls manufactures a complete line of IEC enclosed AC motor starters suitable for applications up to 60HP or 80A. Assembled motor starters include a contactor, an overload relay, and a NEMA 4X rated polycarbonate enclosure. To select the appropriate starter, first verify the full load amperage (FLA) from the motor or equipment nameplate at the input voltage you will supply, confirming whether it is 1-phase or 3-phase power. Choose a starter rated for current (amps) higher than the FLA. Next, select the control power used to close the contactor and the overload by choosing a current range that encompasses the FLA determined previously. Options for selection include incoming power configurations such as "direct-online starter" when line power also serves as control power, or "separate control voltage" if the control voltage differs from line voltage. Additionally, consider whether remote start terminals are required for activation from an external switch, which assumes line and control voltages are the same, or if "separate control voltage + remote start terminals" is needed when using different voltages.
