Benchmark offers a comprehensive selection of bead homogenization options designed to efficiently process a wide variety of samples. Included in the kit are silica (glass) homogenizer beads, which are ready to use, acid washed, and heat treated to ensure they are nuclease and protease free. The bead sizes available are 0.1 mm for the homogenization of gram positive and negative bacteria, 0.5 mm for bacteria, fungi, spores, molds, and small yeasts, and 1.0 mm for fungi, spores, algae, and larger yeasts. Additionally, 1.5 mm beads are suitable for soft tissues such as adipose and liver, while 3 mm beads are designed for harder tissues like heart and lung, and 6 mm satellites are ideal for very hard tissues such as seeds and dry grinding. Stainless steel homogenizer beads come in 2.8 mm and 5 mm sizes, providing a denser option for harder samples and dry grinding, and are alcohol washed and heat treated for nuclease-free assurance. Triple-Pure™ zirconium beads are also available, certified nuclease and protease free, with 6 mm satellites for additional application. For specific tearing needs, garnet shards can be used alongside the 6 mm zirconium satellites, and prefilled tubes are offered for convenience. All beads are designed to meet rigorous standards for various sample types and are ready to use upon receipt.
