The SmartDrop™ X is a full spectrum UV-VIS spectrophotometer that requires a sample volume of 0.5 to 2.0 µL and is designed for nucleic acid and protein calculations, featuring preset programs for BCA, Bradford, and Lowry assays. This device performs full spectrum analyses in approximately 6 seconds, allowing for the selection of up to 5 specific points on the spectrum for colorimetric readings. It employs a long-life xenon lamp source that requires no warm-up time, paired with a highly sensitive CCD detector to ensure accurate results. The SmartDrop™ X utilizes two auto-ranging path lengths of 0.2 mm and 1.0 mm, enabling detection of up to 4,500 ng/µL of dsDNA without the need for dilution. Users benefit from a full-color 7" touchscreen with icon-driven menus and preprogrammed protocols, eliminating the need for an external computer. The system includes a quartz pedestal for placing a sample drop, which is then stretched into a specified liquid column length for spectral analysis. The resulting concentrations and purity metrics for DNA, RNA, and proteins are displayed in seconds, and data can be printed, saved in onboard memory, or exported via USB in Excel format. Each unit features an integrated printer, while the included cuvette port and two optical glass cuvettes support OD600 readings. With full-spectrum absorbance scans ranging from 200 to 800 nm and the ability to quickly calculate and display 260/280 and 260/230 ratios, the SmartDrop™ series offers three models to accommodate diverse applications and budgets.
