The Kohler® engine models KT745 feature a short block based on the Kohler® Command Pro® commercial engine design, specifically the air-cooled, V-Twin 7000 series. It includes a pro performance filtration package that increases air, oil, and fuel filter capacity for enhanced protection. The engine is equipped with pressure lubrication, which extends engine life by ensuring that critical components are well lubricated. It employs Smart-Choke™ technology, allowing for reliable starting in hot or cold conditions, even at temperatures below freezing, and eliminating the need to choke the engine as it starts at any throttle position. Additionally, the engine incorporates Consistent-Cut™ technology, which maintains engine speed under challenging mowing conditions. This engine is a consumer-grade, four-cycle, twin-cylinder, air-cooled, vertical shaft gasoline engine, featuring an overhead valve (OHV) design with a cast iron liner.
