The 4-40x3/8 Phillips pan thread cutting screw type F is fully threaded and made from 18-8 stainless steel. These thread-cutting type-F threaded screws are specifically designed for use in heavy gauge sheet metal, aluminum, zinc and lead die castings, cast iron, brass, and plastic. When utilizing stainless steel, the material into which the screw is cutting threads should possess a lower hardness by 10-20 Rockwell hardness. The pan head design is a common style that can be substituted in most applications for round, truss, or binding head screws.
