The 1/4-20 x 1 Phillips flat thread cutting screw type F is a fully threaded zinc bake screw designed for use in heavy gauge sheet metal, aluminum, zinc and lead die castings, cast iron, brass, and plastic. These thread-cutting type-F screws are ideal for applications where thread engagement in materials requires tailored cutting capabilities. In stainless steel applications, it is recommended that the material into which the screw is cutting threads has a lower hardness by 10-20 Rockwell hardness to ensure effective thread formation. The flat head design is suited for situations where protrusion of the fastener above the mating surface is unacceptable, typically featuring a 100-degree flat for standard applications or an 82-degree flat for fastening softer materials.
