THHN 12 gauge building wire, stranded type, red is designed for various applications where its durability and compliance are crucial. Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2 conductors are primarily used in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial settings, adhering to the 2008 National Electrical Code. This wire type is suitable for dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C, and when classified as THWN-2 or TWN75, it can be used in wet or dry environments with temperature limits of 90 °C or 75 °C in oil exposure. For MTW type applications, it is resilient in wet locations or oil exposure at 60 °C and dry settings at 90 °C, with ampacity restricted to the 75 °C limit per NFPA 79. The wire can handle a maximum voltage of 600 volts and can be installed without pulling lubricant. The specifications ensure that Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2 or MTW (also AWM) meets or exceeds all applicable ASTM standards, UL Standard 83, UL 1581, UL Standard 1063 (MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, Federal Specification A-A-59544, and National Electrical Code requirements. It features VW-1 compliance for sizes 14 through 1 AWG and CT compliance for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger. FT1 compliance is applicable for sizes through 500 KCMIL, and it is RoHS compliant and sunlight resistant, marked and listed in all colors for sizes 2 AWG and larger. The construction includes annealed (soft) copper conductors in a unilay compressed strand, insulated with a tough heat and moisture resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and finished with a SIM (Slikqwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or equivalent.
