The THHN 12 gauge building wire, stranded type, green is primarily utilized in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial or industrial applications, adhering to the 2008 National Electrical Code. When functioning as type THHN or T90 nylon, the conductor is suitable for dry locations at temperatures not exceeding 90 °C. As type THWN-2 or TWN75, it can be used in wet or dry locations at the same temperature limits, or 75 °C when exposed to oil. The wire also meets specifications for type MTW, where it is applicable in wet locations or oil exposure at up to 60 °C, and allows for use in dry locations up to 90 °C, with ampacity limited to a 75 °C conductor temperature per NFPA 79. The conductor can handle temperatures up to 105 °C in dry settings when rated as AWM or when used with T90 nylon, and operates at a voltage of 600 volts. This cable can be installed without pulling lubricant and meets or exceeds all applicable ASTM specifications, UL standards 83 and 1581, UL standard 1063 (for MTW), CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE 90 °C, federal specification A-A-59544, and National Electrical Code requirements. It is VW-1 rated for sizes 14 through 1 AWG and CT rated for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger. The FT1 rating is applicable for sizes through 500 KCMIL, while T90 nylon and TWN 75 ratings also cover sizes through 500 KCMIL. This wire is ROHS compliant, sunlight resistant, and is marked and listed in all colors for sizes 2 AWG and larger. The construction features annealed (soft) copper conductors with a unilay compressed strand, insulated with a durable heat and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), topped with a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon (polyamide) or an equivalent recognized by UL.
