The Edwards fire alarm bells come in three gong sizes: 6" (152 mm), 8" (203 mm), and 7" (254 mm), featuring a heavy duty die cast housing and a rugged, compact mechanism designed for outdoor use with an optional back box. These diode polarized, vibrating bells are specifically engineered for use with fire alarm control equipment, producing a loud, resonant tone essential for fire alarm systems. The gongs are constructed from select alloy steel and are epoxy powder coated red. Each unit includes a supplied mounting plate that can be installed directly on surfaces or on any single gang box, as well as compatible with 3 1/2" (89 mm) or 4" (72 mm) octagon, or 4" (72 mm) square electrical boxes. For outdoor installation, it is recommended to use the Edwards Cat No. 449 weatherproof back box. The 438D and 439D models serve as audible signaling appliances that operate in conjunction with an installed fire alarm panel and detection devices, ensuring compliance with required safety standards.
