The Edwards fire alarm bells feature 6" (152 mm), 8" (203 mm), and 7" (254 mm) gong sizes, constructed with a heavy-duty die-cast housing and a rugged, compact mechanism designed for outdoor use with an optional back box. The under dome mechanism houses diode polarized, vibrating bells specifically designed for compatibility with fire alarm control equipment. The gongs are made from select alloy steel to produce the loud, resonant tone required in fire alarm systems and are epoxy powder coated red for visibility. The supplied mounting plate can be installed directly on a surface or on any single gang box, as well as on any 3 1/2" (89 mm) or 4" (102 mm) octagon, or 4" (102 mm) square electrical box. For outdoor installation, an Edwards Cat No. 449 weatherproof back box is recommended. The 438D and 439D models serve as audible signaling appliances for installations designed to operate in conjunction with an installed fire alarm panel and detection devices.
