The cast iron flanged ball valve features a PTFE® fused ball, specifically in the 4000 and 3700 series, which offers enhanced durability and reduced susceptibility to buildup compared to standard unprotected balls. This valve incorporates a unique process developed in collaboration with DuPont, where PTFE® is impregnated .008" into a solid metal ball, with an additional .004" added electrostatically for improved smoothness; as the PTFE® becomes part of the metal, it eliminates the risk of flaking, chipping, or peeling. Recognized globally for its corrosion and chemical resistance, this valve provides an economical solution, priced similarly to most gate valves, yet it outlasts unprotected metal valves in various applications. The lubricity of the PTFE® ball contributes to lower torque ratings, facilitating easier operation and allowing for the use of smaller, cost-effective actuators. A full line of actuators, gear operators, and operating nuts is available for the 4000 series, while the four-bolt actuator mounting pad is designed for automation applications.
