The Chalfant Energy Saving Dock Seal is designed to reduce energy costs while ensuring the safety of workers and protecting merchandise from external elements. When a truck or trailer backs up against the seal, it compresses the polyurethane foam pads, which measure 12" W x 10" D, forming an effective barrier against hot or cold temperatures, wind, rain, snow, dust, and fumes. The pads are covered with heavy-duty, abrasion-resistant, flame-resistant 40 oz. vinyl, suitable for frequent use, and include wear pleats on the side panels for added abrasion resistance. The unit is factory mounted on 2" thick kiln-dried wood wall mounting bases, and all necessary installation hardware is included. Safety features consist of 4" yellow stripes for enhanced visibility. The design accommodates a level approach with a flush dock face, and it is recommended that seals project 4" - 6" past the bumper, with bumpers sold separately. To ensure the correct dock seal is ordered, specific information is required regarding door size (W' x H'), dock bumper projection, dock ledge projection, and dock height, as well as any slope conditions that necessitate tapered seals. An approval drawing will be provided before manufacturing begins, and modifications may affect the final price of the seal.
