The Iko Shell Type Needle Roller Bearing, designed for heavy-duty applications, features a metric size with an 8mm bore, a 15mm outer diameter (OD), and a width of 20mm, identified by part number TA820Z. This bearing consists of an outer ring made from thin, accurately drawn special steel plate, and needle rollers, which can come with or without a retainer. Notably, it possesses the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings while offering relatively high load ratings. The model with a retainer is suitable for high-speed applications due to its ability to guide the rollers precisely. It is important to note that these bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant; thus, proper lubrication is essential during use. Typically, these bearings are used without inner rings, with a recommended shaft surface finish of 0.2µmRA or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64. When these specifications are unachievable, the use of Iko inner rings is advised. The accuracy of the outer ring cannot avoid deformation from heat treatment due to its thin cross section, making direct measurements inappropriate; instead, standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters should be utilized.
