The IKO shell type needle roller bearing is a heavy-duty component featuring a metric design with a 14mm bore, 22mm outer diameter (OD), and a width of 20mm, identified by part number TA1420Z. This drawn cup bearing comprises an outer ring crafted from precisely drawn thin special steel plate, along with needle rollers, which may include a retainer. Notably, shell type needle roller bearings possess the smallest sectional height and weight of all needle roller bearing types while delivering relatively high load ratings. When equipped with a retainer, these bearings are suitable for high-speed applications, as the retainer and thrust ring accurately guide the rollers. It is important to note that these bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant; therefore, proper lubrication is essential during use. Typically, they are utilized with shafts that do not have inner rings, with a recommended shaft surface finish of 0.2µm Ra or less and a shaft hardness of HRC 58 to 64. If these conditions cannot be met, using IKO inner rings is advised. The accuracy of the outer ring is such that deformation may occur due to heat treatment, making direct measurement of the outer ring inappropriate. Instead, standard mounting dimensions should be used for shaft and housing diameters, with an outer ring width tolerance of +0 to -0.20 mm.
