The IKO Shell Type Needle Roller Bearing is a heavy-duty bearing with a 1" bore, 1-5/16" outer diameter (OD), and a width of .750". This drawn cup bearing consists of an accurately drawn outer ring made from special thin steel plate, containing needle rollers, with the option of a retainer. It boasts the smallest sectional height and weight among all needle roller bearings while maintaining relatively high load ratings. The bearing with a retainer is designed for high-speed applications due to the precise guidance of rollers by the retainer and thrust ring, while the grease retained type (full complement) is suited for heavy loads at low speeds. Notably, shell type needle roller bearings are generally used with shafts that do not have inner rings; thus, a shaft surface finish of 0.2µm RA or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64 are recommended. In situations where these specifications cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is suggested. Due to their thin cross-sections, the outer rings cannot avoid deformation during heat treatment, making direct measurement impractical, and standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters should be used. The tolerance for the outer ring width is set at +0 to -0.25 mm.
