The Iko shell type needle roller bearing, part# TLA69Z, features a metric design with a 6mm bore, 10mm outer diameter (OD), and 9mm width. This bearing consists of an outer ring made from an accurately drawn thin special steel plate and needle rollers, which may or may not include a retainer. Known for having the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings, it offers relatively high load ratings. The design allows for use in high-speed applications when equipped with a retainer, which precisely guides the rollers along with a thrust ring. Notably, these shell type needle roller bearings are not pre-packed with lubricant, requiring proper lubrication upon use. They are typically used with shafts that do not have inner rings, with recommendations for a shaft surface finish of 0.2μMRA or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64. In circumstances where these specifications cannot be met, the use of Iko inner rings is advised. Accuracy is a consideration since the outer ring cannot avoid deformation due to heat treatment given its thin cross sections, making direct measurements on the outer ring inappropriate. Standard mounting dimensions should be utilized for shaft and housing diameters, with an outer ring width tolerance of +0 to -0.20 mm.
