The Iko shell type needle roller bearing, part# TA3525Z, features a metric heavy-duty design with a 35mm bore, 45mm outer diameter, and a width of 25mm. This drawn cup bearing consists of an accurately shaped outer ring made from thin special steel plate, needle rollers, and may include a retainer. Known for having the smallest sectional height and weight among needle roller bearings, it provides relatively high load ratings. The variant with a retainer is suitable for high-speed applications, as the retainer and thrust ring effectively guide the rollers. It is important to note that these bearings do not come pre-packed with lubricant, necessitating proper lubrication upon installation. Shell type needle roller bearings are intended for use with shafts that do not have inner rings, with a recommended shaft surface finish of 0.2µm Ra or less and a hardness range of HRC 58 to 64. In cases where these specifications cannot be met, the use of Iko inner rings is advised. The outer ring is not designed to avoid deformation from heat treatment due to its thin cross-section, thus direct measurements on the outer ring are not appropriate. Standard mounting dimensions for shaft and housing diameters should be utilized, with an outer ring width tolerance of +0 to -0.20 mm.
