IKO machined type needle roller bearings consist of a solid outer ring, rollers, and a retainer, without an inner ring. They feature low sectional height, large load ratings, and rigidity, and come without seals. Proper lubricant must be applied during use, as prepacked grease is not provided for these series. The GTR series includes full complement bearings with mallet-shaped rollers that are guided by a guide rail and groove to minimize skewing. These bearings are suitable for applications involving heavy loads, shock loads, or oscillating motions. Machined type needle roller bearings are generally employed with shafts lacking inner rings, with a recommended shaft surface finish of 0.2MRA or less and a hardness of HRC 58 to 64. If these requirements cannot be met, the use of IKO inner rings is recommended.
