Southwire Type UF-B cable is specifically designed for use as a feeder to outside post lamps, pumps, and other loads or apparatus from a distribution point in existing buildings, conforming to the 2008 National Electrical Code. This type of cable can be utilized underground, including direct burial, and multiple conductor UF-B cable is suitable for interior branch circuit wiring in residential or agricultural buildings, with conductor temperatures not exceeding 90°C (ampacity limited to that for 60°C conductors) as per the National Electrical Code. It is also applicable in areas permitted for Non-Metallic Sheathed Cable (NMC) as outlined in Section 334.10(B) of the National Electrical Code. The voltage rating for UF-B cable is 600 volts. Southwire Type UF-B cable meets or exceeds UL Standard 83, UL Standard 493, Federal Specification A-A-59544, and National Electrical Code requirements. Constructed as a 2 conductor cable without a ground wire, it features annealed (soft) copper conductors, which can be solid or compressed stranded. The phase conductors are insulated with polyvinyl chloride (PVC), feature a nylon jacket for added protection, and are color-coded for identification. The cable is jacketed with gray PVC that is resistant to sunlight, moisture, and fungus.
