The Southwire Simpull THHN® or THWN-2 building wire is a 4 gauge stranded type conductor in green, designed for use in conduit and cable trays for services, feeders, and branch circuits in commercial and industrial applications, adhering to the 2008 National Electrical Code. As a THHN type, it is suitable for dry locations with a temperature rating of up to 90 °C, while the THWN-2 type supports both wet and dry locations at the same temperature limit, or up to 75 °C when exposed to oil. The MTW designation allows for usage in wet locations or with oil exposure at 60 °C or dry conditions at 90 °C, with ampacity limited per NFPA 79 for 75 °C. The wire maintains a voltage rating of 600 volts and can be installed without pulling lubricant. This product meets or exceeds ASTM specifications and UL standards, including UL Standard 83 and UL 1581, and is compliant with CSA, CUL, NOM-ANCE, and Federal Specification A-A-59544. It is VW-1 rated for sizes 14 through 1 AWG and CT compliant for sizes 1/0 AWG and larger. Additionally, the wire is RoHS compliant and sunlight resistant, marked and listed in all colors for sizes 2 AWG and larger. The construction features annealed copper conductors that are unilay compressed, insulated with durable heat and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), and covered with a SIM (SlikQwik® infused membrane) nylon or equivalent jacket.
