TFFN 16 gauge building wire is a stranded type in black, suitable for various applications including fixture wire, machine tool wiring, and appliance wiring materials as outlined in the 2008 National Electrical Code. When used as type TFFN, the conductor can operate at temperatures not exceeding 90°C, while as type MTW, it is suitable for wet locations or exposure to oil or coolant at temperatures not exceeding 60°C, and at dry locations up to 90°C, with ampacity limited to that for 75°C conductor temperature per NFPA 79. For AWM applications, conductor temperatures may reach up to 105°C in dry locations. The voltage rating for all applications is 600 volts. Southwire type TFFN or MTW or AWM meets or exceeds UL standard 66 and National Electrical Code requirements and is RoHS compliant. The construction features annealed (soft) copper conductors insulated with a durable, heat and moisture-resistant polyvinyl chloride (PVC), topped with a nylon (polyamide) jacket. The wire is available in multiple colors including black, white, red, blue, green, yellow, orange, brown, purple, gray, and pink, with some colors being standard and others subject to economic order quantity. The wire is also oil and gasoline resistant as defined by Underwriters Laboratories.
